Hello! I'm José, and I'm new here! But I wanted to try and give my point of view since the game looks great so far!
Here I share a conversation I had in the SoH Discord with another member:

Hello! I'm new! I wanted to know more about the gameplay of the game in order to maybe share some experience that I think maybe could help! Specially about combat mechanics, I think it would be awesome if it were somehow skill-oriented and challenging and not only pressing numbers to cast auto-abillities into standing enemies. Probably has been discussed before but I don't know what the developers have concluded

It is a
classic MMORPG (Tab Target)
It's not a cheap autoplay battle system, you can best compare it to World of Warcraft. The combat system feels really good, with a bit of finetuning it feels like WoW Classic.
In my
opinion SoH will be the best MMORPG and doesn't need to hide from a big MMORPG.
The game has a strict ''No Autogameplay'' mentality

Oh I see!
Speaking of wow, ofcourse it's a classic combat system, but I thought it would
be super fresh and fun if there were mechanics similar to maybe dark souls,
dragon nest and league of legends where landing important skill-shots and
performing combos is crucial!
If the developers have already decided that the combat system won't change in that direction I think the debate is over, but gameplay is king, in my opinion

In the first place it is an MMORPG 😄 I don't think, that Dark Souls mechanic would fit in a game like that. Plus you can't test that much, because if a lot of players don't like it they don't even give the game a try.

"In the
first place it is an MMORPG 😄 I don't think, that Dark Souls
mechanic" Why not? Who said mmorpgs have to have static and skill-less
combat systems? I think that's the main reason the genre is dead.
"Plus
you can't test that much, because if a lot of players don't like it they don't
even give the game a try" I'm pretty sure players do want a cool combat
system with fluent combos and complex techniques and not only standing pressing
numbers. No wonder why league is one of the most played games and soulslikes
are winning game of the year and players all over the world.
I don't think the combat system I refer to is uncompatible with an mmorpg, actually I think it would be perfect for an mmorpg. If I want to play a motionless game I can play card games where gameplay revolves around logic and turns; but when it comes to immersive games, I (and most players) want motion and adrenaline and to develop my swift techniques that are more close to what would be important in a real combat in an immersive fantasy world

Well I had
an idea for a 72 Boss Raid, but you can't do it. You will lose thw whole
playerbase with a hard raid like that. Every boss get's harder in every phase.
This are bosses that unlocks new skills if you have to much dps to slow you
down etc. It is kinda souls like but for MMORPGs. YOu can post your ideas on
the forum.
But an MMORPG can't be compared to a MOBA
The game is exactly like wow, we will have a good combat system even now in the pre-alpha

"It is
kinda souls like but for MMORPGs" that sounds like a cool merge, I think
it could be fun and catch attention.
"But an
MMORPG can't be compared to a MOBA" No, I mean, my suggestion revolves
around the combat system, I'm not saying combat should be teambased or
match-based like a moba. For example, let's take the Paladin from wow, instead
of tabing a NPCs and pressing 1, 2, 1, 3, 1 and it's over; the player would
have to dodge abilities, use a dash (calculate the range of the dash), then
land a skill-shot hit, a knockback, an aoe spell, a different flow that gives
gameplay more power and awesome looking movements. Also players want something
deep that is hard to learn for a long term experience, and it can be friendly
with beginners too.
I believe
you have to consider beginners and also a more tryhard playerbase both, because
eventually the beginners will want to deepen their knowledge and skills and
that's hard to do in a static combat system where your only resource is to add
spells and more spells that do more damage or heal more but the way they are
delivered is the same again and again from the beginning.
Gamplay is
king from what I've learned through the years in game industry. And it's many
times the reason people do or don't play certain games. That's why I brought
lol as an example, it has a hard focus on the gameplay and people plays it
because of that after more than 13 years. You take that component of fluent
combat, you merge it with deep mmorpg immersion. You get a great game in my
opinion. It serves for pvp and pve. I will post this in the forum as you
suggested: Can you please send me the link? I'm so new, sorry.
Thank you!
